Hello Friends, Let’s see about India’s Fake Doctors in detail.
According to WHO,
more than half of India’s doctors are fake!
And according to a 2018 report 20 percent of all deaths during treatment in India. Had a fake doctor’s involvement. Imagine that! Almost 20% deaths!
But who are these fake doctors?
Where do they come from?
And why is India full of such fake doctors?
This is what I want to tell you about. Some people might call them entrepreneurs, others might call them Jhola Chhap doctors. but such people fill a gap that exists in the market. Many such fake doctors work in rural areas, where there are no real doctors. According to Indian Medical Association, there are at least 10 lakh such informal doctors in India of this 10 Lakh, at least 4 lakh are practitioners of medicine systems like Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, etc. Does this mean that all of these 4 lakh doctors are fake?
NO! According to the Indian government, anyone who has done a course in any of these fields is authorized to treat a patient.
The only difference is –
They cannot prescribe allopathic or modern medicines to the patients. Only those doctors with a degree in M.B.B.S and do so. But despite that, many informal doctors prescribe allopathic medicines. The reason why they do this is that many areas in India don’t have any formal doctors. And for that, you should blame India’s medical system. According to WHO, we need at least one doctor per one thousand people but in India, we only have one doctor for around 1500 people. And this would be very surprising because India has the most medical schools as compared to any other nation.
then why this shortage of doctors in India?
That is because the number of graduating students is very small usually only 100 to 150students per college per year. For example, AIIMS Delhi takes in only 72 students for its undergraduate course each year. And around 80,000 to 90,000 students compete for these seats. This means that the acceptance rate of AIIMS, Delhi is less than even Harvard’s acceptance! It is because of this pressure that makes students indulge in cheating. The first problem is that there aren’t many medical graduates in India, The second problem is- even among the very few medical graduates, a lot of them are poorly trained.
Because most of these medical colleges are private colleges that have been set up by businessmen and politicians. Who has little to no experience operating medical or educational institutions? Their main objective is earning money and for that, they have to pass government inspections. in such a situation- there aren’t many medical graduates in India, The ones that are there lack proper training, and The ones that do het proper training do not want to go work in the rural areas. Due to this, the vacancy for doctors in rural areas is very high.
This is why Jhola Chap doctors are very popular in rural areas. These doctors treat people at nominal costs. And many people support this system. Because The government doctors that are recruited in rural areas have all temporary postings these informal doctors are available 24/7 in the village. they are available for the patients full-time. Many of them have often worked under a formal doctor for some time. And people who get treated by them, have a lot of respect for them.
that is why many state governments have also decided to train them instead of strictly acting against them. now some of these informal doctors might be useful but some can cause people to lose their lives as well.
So, now may wonder –
how can you identify a fake doctor?
The first is, Such Jhola Chap doctors often use fake registration numbers.
Second, A real doctor also doesn’t promise magical results.
Third, A doctor who claims to know everything about your condition before even going into the details could be suspicious.
And Forth, a real doctor would not press you to undergo a serious medical procedure. If you are unsure about spotting fake doctors you should always take a second opinion from some other doctor.
If you ask to ignore or accept this doctor the villagers in India, you’d get just one answer-
that is accept them.
So, Friends, this is all about India’s Fake Doctors. I hope you understand very well.
